  1. This may be a stupid question, but I'm going to ask anyway. I have been researching WP theme tutorials and this tutorial always seems to pop up. I have read it all the way through and am wondering if its contents are still up to date with the current WP 3.0. Seeing that WP changes so frequently and has a ton of upgraded features since this was written in 09, is this tutorial's process still the way to go in regards to it's PHP functions, html structure, etc? I have no idea if this has been updated with each release of WP, but my guess is no? Hopefully someone can clear it up so I don't go following a tutorial that doesn't work properly and I end up banging my head against a wall...

It's still relevant. Just look into what was added in 3.0 (mainly custom post types and the new menus) and you should be good

But most people here are fans of Thematic so I would recommend you look into how to build a child theme for it ;) http://themeshaper.com/functions-php-wordpress-child-themes/

  6. I'm definitely a Thematic fan as well. Just trying to get through the learning curve process efficiently. I did look through the link someone submitted in the comments on the front page of the tutorial with updates to make for 3.0. Definitely a big help. Thanks for the extra links!
