  1. I'm trying to pull up the sidebar on the site that I'm working on so that the .main-aside is overlapping the header and the sidebar is on top.

I can't figure out how to make this work. You can see what I'm working on here:

    Z-index doesn't seem to work.

    Any suggestions?

you have a negative margin on there ok, you can also use margin-top:-130px

in firefox it looks fine, what you have is a z-index ie issue. google to find out more

i don't think you will need a z-index for the header, so remove it from both header and aside. by default the block element (aside) will site on top of the header without z-index.

let us know how you go
