    I am having a weird problem. I've searched the forums and can't find anything on it.

    I just finished converting an existing static site to WP using thematic. Everything works fine in Firefox, then switching over to IE 8 disaster struck. The drop downs are rendering differently (wrong font colors & backgrounds, etc.), and that's probably a CSS issue, but the width of the dropdowns, which I modified using the filter for the js that I found and clipped from the thematic site (can't find the link now, but here's the code):

    function mavins_dropdown_options($dropdown_options) {
    return <<<EOD
    <script type="text/javascript">
    jQuery.noConflict();
    jQuery(document).ready(function(){
    jQuery("ul.sf-menu").supersubs({
    minWidth: 12, // minimum width of sub-menus in em units
    maxWidth: 25, // maximum width of sub-menus in em units
    extraWidth: 0, // extra width can ensure lines don't sometimes turn over
    // due to slight rounding differences and font-family
    }).superfish({
    delay: 800, // delay on mouseout
    animation: {opacity:'show',height:'show'}, // fade-in and slide-down animation
    });
    });
    </script>

    EOD;
    }
    add_filter('thematic_dropdown_options','mavins_dropdown_options');

    I am also getting the following error reported when I load the page from my local testing server:

    Webpage error details

    User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; WOW64; Trident/4.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; Media Center PC 5.0; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; OfficeLiveConnector.1.5; OfficeLivePatch.1.3; .NET4.0C)
    Timestamp: Mon, 15 Nov 2010 21:09:49 UTC

    Message: Expected identifier, string or number
    Line: 64
    Char: 9
    Code: 0
    URI: http://localhost/mavins/links/

    Does anybody have any idea what is going on? I've looked everywhere and can't find anything on why this error would be returning in IE 8.

    Thanks for any help you might provide.

    Quick follow on: I tried removing the filter and the error stopped (the menu still looks bad, but it looks like that's mostly a CSS issue). Does anyone know how to fix the filter to correct the problem?

    Many thanks in advance for any help.
