  2. @SteveK: I assume you're already working on a child theme.

I'm currently just loading up a test page and clicking on 'View Source' to find out the ID and classes of elements for styling. Alternatively, have a look at some of the default css files to find out which ones to override with your child theme:

    reset.css (Reset)
    typography.css (Typography styles)
    2c-r-fixed.css (Layout)
    images.css (Image styles)
    default.css (Default theme style)
    plugins.css (Plugins)

The default FAQ has some CSS styling tips and you could consider using Google to look up Thematic specific CSS styling tutorials.

  4. @SteveK: Apologies, I think I might have misintepreted your question earlier.

The default style.css for Thematic actually imports all the CSS files mentioned in my previous post, and you can find them under in your Thematic theme folder under: \thematic\library\styles\

However, the difference with Thematic - as you're probably aware - is that you don't have to edit the style.css. This is because Thematic is a theme framework, so you can essentially use the default theme to build your own theme (called a 'child theme') by simply overriding the CSS.

Catswhocode explains this far better than myself:
