So I posted about this on the wp e-commerce forum as well...I am trying to use wp e-commerce plugin with a thematic child theme. It loads in fine and acts as if it is working until I go to check out... When I hit checkout after I have added a product to my cart, the check out page says "Oops your cart is empty". I have tried everything suggested with this issue in the wp e-commerce forum, but the problem is still not resolved. Any ideas or help would be wonderful. Site: http://pidginmagazine.com

I don't have any immediate answers to your problem but I do have a lot of faith in the support crew over there. Could you post a link to that support thread here.
Install a SVN copy and add the following two lines to your child theme's functions.php:
define('THEMATIC_COMPATIBLE_BODY_CLASS', true); define('THEMATIC_COMPATIBLE_POST_CLASS', true);
wp e-commerce and Thematic used the same global variable $version. We fixed this a while ago.

Where is my mind?
Don't worry. It took me approx. 1 hour before I realized that it's already fixed :)
Hi Chris and Gene,
Thank you so much for your help. Unfortunately the svn version and that code to the child function.php file did not seem to do the trick.
Here is the other forum post: http://getshopped.org/forums/topic.php?id=13327#post-54892
Vark (a resident expert) said that it was not a sessions problem which I first tried to fix. He thought it might be another plugin interfering. However, I also went though and tried wp e-commerce with just the default wp theme and no other plugins installed. It still did not work.
I have a ticket into my hosting provider. I am at a bit of a loss as to where the problem is coming from. Any ideas or similar stories would be helpful :)
sorry, at the moment I have no idea at all, what is causing this problem.
I installed wp e-commerce on my local dev blog running a few regular and some more customized plugins. The blog is using a basic Thematic child theme without any modifications or additions. And wp e-commerce is playing nice. I can add products to the cart and I can do a check out.
Good news, my hosting provider just contacted me and apparently it was the sessions and they had not correctly fixed the problem the first time. wp e-commerce is now working on the site. Chris - thank you so much for running those tests and looking into it!
If anyone else is having this issue I suggest trying out other shopping cart plugins, and if they are all having the same issue then it is probably hosting related.
