I'm using aether theme for thematic, and I'd like to move the widget area index-bottom right before the #subsidiary div.
That's becase the plugin wp-pagenavi appears between these 2 widget areas, and I don't want it.

According with this info ( there are 2 widget zones called Secondary and Primary Aside. But when I put in there the Search widget I can't get anything.

And the last question is: how could I also put the date and "insert commentary" link that appears for each post in Aether theme in frontpage, in a single post??

    Thank you!

    I did it.
I copied the files footer.php and sidebar-index-bottom.php inside the folder of Aether theme. Then I copied all the content of sidebar-index-bottom.php inside the footer.php.

But there is something I don't understand, and sorry for this stupid question:

what is the advantage of a framework like Thematic, if every time I want to do a code modification as above I must do a copy of the original files of that framework inside my child theme folder?
I mean, every time I update the framework I will must update also the file inside my child theme... and I will lost all my modifications. Isn't it?

Thank you for your patience :)

I'm not sure why you weren't able to just deactivate the page-navi widget and/or activate the search widget
Maybe that has something to do with the particular child theme - but you shouldn't need to move your widget areas around or fiddle with the sidebar and footer templates to accomplish all this.

As far as copying the files into your child theme. - the heavy lifting is really done in the files that exist in the 'library' directory - not so much in the page templates.

Here's a bit of reading for you..

This should help you understand "why Thematic?"

This will help you understand why and how to work with a child theme.

Keep in mind that while Thematic is a framework, you're using a custom child theme (that uses Thematic as a framework)

    Thank you amygail!!

I've read the links a few moments ago, and now I know I could use a filter hook to put in there the content I wish. I will try to do it, even if I don't know PHP :)

And the problem with the "Search" widget is strange, because in a first time I was able to use the "meta" widget in the same zone... and after a few changes in css I can't get any widget in both zones.

So, the only doubt I still have is how to publish the date and the link for new comments when I'm seeing a single (entire) post.
