sidebar and container overlapping the header

    How can i make my sidebar and main-content areas overlap my header vertically, say about 50px overlapping ? when i try to give absolute positioning to main-aside and container, everything goes haywire.

    oh.. and i have no menu in this child-theme.

    The #MAIN div has overflow set to 'hidden'... ...so simply adjusting the top margin of the overlapping content and working with the z-index isn't sufficient. I'm currently trying to find a way to add content between the #header div and the #main div that I can then overlap the header with on certain template pages.
